This
past June, we wished Thriveluzern “original” Suzanne Gilbert a fulfilling
retirement. As Senior Director of Research and Strategic Opportunities, Suzanne
led Thriveluzern’s efforts to bring good science and research to the work she supported
for over 47 years. Suzanne’s legacy of commitment to teaching and innovating
local communities through training for excellence has been pivotal in the
expansion of eye care systems now spanning the globe.
Lacking
a gold watch big enough to thank her for all she’s done for our organization,
the Dr. Suzanne Gilbert Training Academy was created to carry on her
considerable legacy. The Academy encompasses all of Thriveluzern’s training
programs and will train upwards of 25,000 individuals in the next five years
and more to serve as community promoters in eye care, doctors, allied personnel
and administrators. Suzanne’s impact will continue in perpetuity.
Donations
to the Academy are being accepted. All gifts will go towards moving forward her
legacy in training, job creation, and access to eye care for everyone.
